prep instructions:

Pre-heat broiler. In a large skillet pour 2 Tbsp of oil, and heat over medium heat. Add sliced onions. Sauté 11-12 minutes or until onion is tender and slightly browned. When onions are done add the water and beef granules and cook until completely dissolved. Add beef. Gently stir beef around so meat is completely covered by the broth. Remove beef from broth and evenly distribute between 4 rolls. Top evenly with onions. Cut the cheese slices in half and place on the onions. Place under the broiler until cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve with the left over broth for dipping.

Makes 4 servings.


  • 1 medium sweet onion, peeled and sliced thin
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oilShurfine
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp beef granulesShurfine
  • 12 oz thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 4 2-1/2 oz rolls
  • 4 oz Swiss, provolone, or mozzarella cheese, cut in half
